Once Again Rolling Stone…Lady GaGa isn’t Good, that’s the Explanation for her Recent Drops in the ChartsPosted: June 15, 2011
Last week I posted something about Rolling Stone being way to obsessed with Lady GaGa given the fact that she’s more of an industry creation that an artist. Rolling Stone had made her their loser of the week for the charts, but acted like they were very sorry for doing so in explaining and still touted her over 1000000 sales in it. The only reason she was loser of the week is because she didn’t sell way more then that. First of all what do you expect in the industry, its obvious the only reason she hit 1000000 anyway is because of Amazon’s obscene sale prices when the album debuted.
They made her their loser of the week again this week since she only sold one 10th of what she sold on her debut week (100000 sales this week). Its great that they acknowledge the fact that she never would’ve gotten the sales she did if it wasn’t for Amazon’s sales, but then in the same loser of the week section you go on to praise her, as if for some reason by virtue of the fact that shes Lady GaGa you have to praise her even when insulting her, they talk about her knowledge of the new music industry?
This so called artist is the anti new music industry, she didn’t even know Amazon did this, she was told after. She was probably told to say that by some one else, since you obviously can’t hate on the only reason your debut album wasn’t a failure. Plus she lost no money from it anyway since Amazon made up the difference in royalties payments. Once again Rolling Stone magazine really needs to stop with this GaGa romance they’ve taken to. Its sad and disgusting. It de-legitimizes them as a serious source music industry news. It makes them seem more like MTV or Billboard. Like an industry run propaganda machine. The music industry is becoming more and more like Soviet Russia. Just spewing propaganda in our faces and brainwashing us into thinking every clone of a pop song they vomit out is good. Its sad, it really is.

If anything I applaud a company like Amazon for equating the value of digital versus the physical copy, and giving the opportunity to everyone to buy music.” Now that was a smart answer, and one that contradicts what record executives and record-store chains have been saying for years – that drastic discounts cheapen music. No doubt Gaga understands the realities they talk about over at TopSpin, which is that cheap or free music leads to greater connections with fans, whose loyalty leads them to buy more stuff later. (That said, Amazon took the loss on the 99-cent promotion – Gaga, and her record label, still got the royalties they would have received if Amazon had sold the album at full price.)”
Kanye unveiled this song a while ago, but the final mastered version just leaked and it sounds great. Love that old school Kanye sound.
Check out the new MellowHype video ’64’. I like MellowHype a lot and think they are an idiosyncratic yet essential piece of Odd Future. Hodgy Beats and Left Brain differ from the OF counterparts because Tyler, the Creator produced songs are actually a minority in their short discography. I think their beats are better then the beats on ‘Earl’ by Earl Sweatshirt, but not quite as good as the beats on ‘Bastard’ by Tyler. And Hodgy Beats definitely stands out as a talented rapper within the clique, not quite Earl Sweatshirt but definitely on the same level as or better then Tyler.
Their new songs pretty good, I especially like the second verse. It definitely doesn’t stand out like other songs, such as ‘Loco’, or ‘Bank Rolls’. It sounds a bit to much like a song trying to fir the Odd Future mold, which isn’t something MellowHype always do and I prefer it that way. Check the song out though, I hope it gets MellowHype some of the spotlight, they deserve it.
Haven’t really gotten into the whole Skrillex thing, I still think of him as Sonny from From First to Last, even though I never really listened to From First to Last either. I think it’s a funny and interesting evolution, props to him though, he’s bigger then now then he ever was. He’s gotta be lovin’ it. Can’t resist this tune though. Just a dirty, filthy track from Skrillex and 12th Planet. Turn your subs up high.
Check out a new track from Bon Iver’s upcoming eponymous release, ‘Calgary’. It’s a baroque, ever rising collage of subtle noise, not nearly similar the minimalistic tracks of his first album. I think I actually prefer it though. I’m no Bon Iver expert, I like him, rarely listen though. Because of that, don’t take my, I prefer ‘Calgary’ statement to heart, cause I probably don’t even listen to Bon Iver nearly as much as you. But still, whatever, it’s a great track. Check it out.

This morning on the train to work, all I listened to was Kendrick Lamar and Modest Mouse, and odd combination but it seemed to work. I stared out the window and wondered when Modest Mouse would be dropping their next album, since I am, admittedly a huge Modest Mouse fan.
Well imagine my surprise when…
Seriously one of the coolest collaborations ever. If any rapper can do it, it would be someone like Big Boi, who’s genre bending hip-hop finds inspiration from all over the place. And Modest Mouse? well they’re pretty much indie rock’s equivalent, a genre bending, drunken, messy philosophical soundscapes are good enough to satisfy just about everyone and anyone in between.
While little information has surfaced about Modest Mouse’s next album, this little bit of information is just about enough in itself to carry me over until their next release.
Maybe Big Boi’s ‘Tangerine’, which feature’s some rock touches, can give us some insight into what’s about to happen in the Portland studio with Big Boi and Modest Mouse, but probably not.

Whatever happen’s, I have no idea what to expect, the artists involved in this collaboration are some of the most unpredictable in their respective genres.
