Ellie Goulding Cover of The Knife’s “Heartbeats”

Ellie Goulding is the should be folk singer turned electro-pop-folky singer out of England, who recently released her latest, Lights in the United States. The album has been out in England for quite some time, and it is pretty good, definitely better then some Lady GaGa or Katy Perry electro-club cookie cutter dance pop. I like her best for her acoustic music though. She has several live performances on YouTube where her amazing voice shines over acoustic guitars. Her voices really meshes with the more passionate, raw and folkie sound of an acoustic guitar better then clubby beats, although I guess some would beg to differ.

She has an amazing cover of the song “Heartbeats” by the Knife. I was a big fan of the Jose Gonzalez cover of the song, and when I saw that Ellie Goulding had graced the song with her own touch, I had to listen. She embellishes a bit more then Gonzalez’s minimalist take, but thats just her style and it works well. I really don’t have a bad thing to say about Ellie Goulding when it’s her and an acoustic guitar.
