Hypem Highlights featuring New Cool Kids Single

The Cool Kids

First up, the new Cool Kids single. The provide the same bass heavy, booming and smooth style that can inevitably be described as nothing else but, cool. This track is gonna generate some heat for their springtime release, “When Fish Ride Bicycles”. Check the dopeness.

Check out this song from the Black Angels. They’re a blues-psychedelic band from Austin, Texas. I had never heard of them until tonight, but they’re great. “Bad Vibrations” begins with a three minute long, bluesy, soundtrack tinged drone before screaming into a high tempo guitar  assault for the last minute.

Adele’s soulful, thick bluesy voice is impossible to refuse. Her cover of the Stroke’s “Last Night” has been receiving some attention, and while her lad back vocals doesn’t force over the guitar as powerfully as Julian Casablancas’ croons, this cover is still worth a listen, as its still easy to fall for her velvety voice.

Just because I know Courtney hates She & Him, here’s M. Ward’s Rave on featuring Zooey Deschanel.

Slum Village is a Detroit rap group featuring legendary producer J Dilla, as well as Baatin and T3. This is a dirty remix featuring Slum Village raping over Daft Punk’s “Aerodynamic”.

Gil Scott-Heron is a legend in music and poetry and a fundamentally important predecessor to rap, especially those rappers lyrically conscious of social plight. In 2010 he released his first album in 16 years, “I’m New Here”. The album was a huge departure from his sound, but still received positive reviews. Several days ago he released a collaboration with Jamie XX, a remix album of “I’m New Here” entitled, “We’re New Here”. The mix for “New York is Killing Me” is definitely worth a listen.
